With so many mouths to feed, Tempany?s diet largely consisted of bread, cereal and pasta, and overeating led to her being overweight throughout her childhood. Feeling bad about her size, Tempany developed a binge eating disorder, in which she would starve herself and then eat until she was physically sick. During her pregnancy with her daughter Amarni (2), Tempany found that she developed extreme sickness and was unable to eat much at all. However, after the birth and the illness subsided, the 26-year-old more than made up for lost time, eating over 3,000 calories of high carb foods, including takeaways, chips, candy and chocolate, each day. Tempany gained 4st 10lb and at her heaviest one month after her pregnancy, weighed 14st 4lb in total, and struggled to fit into a UK size 14. Tempany no longer recognised who she was and avoided meeting up with friends through embarrassment. Tempany wore oversized clothes in order to try and hide her weight gain and had no confidence in the way she looked. However, nine months after the birth, Tempany decided to make a change for the good of her physical and mental health. She began to walk short distances multiple times per week, started weight training, and strictly counted her calorie intake to ensure she wasn?t eating too much. In the year that followed, Tempany lost all of the 4st 10lb she had gained and now feels like a new person. She fits a UK size six dress and has even been approached by fitness brands and now does modelling in order to earn extra income.
